Dr. Krishna Kumar, obtained his undergraduate degree in medicine from Government Mohan Kumaramangalam Medical College, Salem. He went on to complete his D.Ortho from Tirunelveli Medical College. . He completed his DNB training in Ganga Hospital, Coimbatore (where he submitted his dissertation on primary closure of soft tissue in open fractures of long bones) and obtained his DNB Orthopaedic Surgery degree in 2002.
He worked as a lecturer in the Department of Orthopaedics in Arupadai Veedu Medical College, Pondicherry for one year. He then worked as a Registrar in the Department of Orthopaedics, Sri Kanchi Kamakoti Sankara Hospital, Chennai, for two years. He joined in Malar Hospital August 2005 . His main body of work is in the field of trauma and spine surgery. He is well versed in the management of open fractures, plating of humerus and forearm bones, Dynamic hip screw fixation, Dynamic condylar screw fixation, closed interlocking nail fixation of long bones, external fixator application, hemiarthroplasty, open reduction and internal fixation of pelvic fractures, lumbar and cervical microdiscectomy, management of spinal fractures and infections. He obtained Mch.Orth course from University of Seychelles American Institute of Medicine on Jan 15 , 2011.He learned recent advances in the paediatric orthopaedics, arthroscopy, arthroplasty, spine and orthopaedic engineering.
He underwent spine fellowship for one year in kovai medical center and hospital under The Tamil Nadu Dr. M.G.R. Medical University’s post doctoral fellowship programme. He trained in all advances in the spine surgery like Endoscopic discectomy, vertebral osteotomy and deformity correction.
